Website Developers
The emergence of Covid-19 drove brick and mortar business owners to quickly realize the necessity of professional online presence. As offering services in person became obsolete and online e-commerce became the safest way to purchase goods, professional web creators became the unsung heroes, building efficient online websites, and ultimately saving many businesses from ruin during the pandemic.
Recently I interviewed Yoni Luksenberg, the CEO and founder of Elementor, the leading open source website builder platform. Yoni founded the company alongside Ariel Klikstein, in 2016, with a vision to create the ultimate platform for professional web creators to utilize their full potential through open source WordPress, and establish their own design skills and businesses, building professional websites for their own customers.
I asked Yoni to discuss how Elementor is providing web creators a way to keep up with the unprecedented demand Covid-19 brought on and how the rush by small and medium sized businesses to accelerate their online presence affected Elementor and web creators as a whole. Here is what Yoni had to say.
Gary Drenik: What is Elementor’s mission?
Yoni Luksenberg: Our mission is to empower professional web creators – designers, developers and marketers. We provide them with a platform to build their future with. We offer an opportunity to optimize their work so they can create beautiful, high functioning WordPress websites in a flexible and streamlined way. The platform does this while also providing a rich array of learning materials, tutorials and an engaged community to help them not only use the platform better, but also develop the business skills that will help them to succeed in the field.
We want to offer passionate web creators an all-in-one platform, essentially the canvas for their work to thrive. The idea that we are a part of the future of the internet and taking an active role in improving web building for these professionals to make individualization easier to achieve is what drives us and we’ve become a vital part of the process.
Now, Elementor’s platform facilitates a community, 8 million strong, that are without a doubt shaping the future web landscape.
Drenik: Who are Elementor users? What do Elementor users want to achieve?
Luksenberg: Elementor’s community comes from diverse backgrounds, specializing in everything from web design, marketing, web development, and more. Elementor is special for them because it makes website building both accessible and refined and does so in a culture and spirit of collaboration.
The community helps creators to push beyond their limitations, by learning from others and collaborating on projects. We offer our community members mutual and collaborative help, like access to community tutorials, webinars, and performance-focused courses that help educate them on how to best implement WordPress optimization so they can grow personally, professionally, and financially.
Our users range from no experience to highly experienced in coding and designing and marketing, but the platform is designed for everyone to not only achieve their goals but to push themselves even further, whether it’s to boost their ecommerce opportunities for their small business or agencies, or reach an online audience to read their writing.
Drenik: How was Elementor able to help web creators prior to Covid-19 and during Covid-19? What is Elementor’s impact on their business?
Elementor’s mission to empower our web creators has been cemented throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Throughout the global pandemic, the platform has been able to serve designers and other web professionals across numerous industries, including essential services aiding the effort to end the Covid-19 pandemic. According to a recent Prosper Insights & Analytics Survey almost 1 in 8 of participants 35-44 who influence purchases for the company they work for are going to invest in a website within the next 6 months. Just this emphasizes the importance of the work these web creators are doing. Covid-19 has made people realize that their website is so much more important than just a must-have. Elementor has been a natural fit to step in helping people to start new businesses or move their existing businesses online.

Drenik: How is Elementor’s platform unique to other website building platforms?
Elementor’s platform provides a comprehensive all-in-one design solution through an open source platform. Our platform has been actively installed more than 8,000,000 times. Most recently a report stated 5.5% of the world’s websites are made by web creators utilizing Elementor. By making professional website building seamless we enable professional web creators to develop strategies to grow their own business and have time to develop the next big thing in website building, for the sake of their clients and for the sake of a better, more inclusive internet. In addition to this, nothing compares to our devoted community of users which includes experts spread over 154 countries and 5 continents. The comradery that comes with using Elementor to build a website is truly unlike anything I’ve seen before from any other website building platform.
Drenik: Are there any stories in particular where a web creator using Elementor was able to ensure a small business client of theirs, financial stability during Covid-19?
Luksenberg: Many of the web creators themselves are small businesses, whether they are running a one man show, or are part of a design company with less than 20 people, Elementor directly impacted their business in this pandemic, by supporting them in streamlining processes as other businesses rushed to get online. A web creator that comes to mind who was able to directly impact another business is Angela. Angela is a webmaster for a mountaineering school. She was able to help them switch the classroom portion of their avalanche training to online. She coached them on how to divide the materials into various lessons and create compelling videos. Not only did this give them way to engage with students remotely and safely, it was incredibly successful. The traditional field course enrollment doubled compared to the same period the previous year, and they were able to offer the classroom portion online to an additional 2,500 people around the world. Elementor is impacting not only passionate web creators themselves, but it also helps web creators to feel fulfilled by assisting others.
Drenik: How does Elementor influence the potential for businesses who built their websites through the platform to grow post Covid-19?
Digitalization is not going backwards. Plus, we are getting more used to personalized, interactive online experiences – so with the right tools, web creators can continue to grow their businesses. Elementor has enabled business leaders in numerous fields to quickly adapt to the new digital standard, and will continue to enhance useability in site design, turning web-building professionals into architects of a digital future – fully equipped with the tools, methodologies and skills needed to compete in a dynamic and challenging ecosystem. With Elementor in the designer’s tool belt, they not only gave businesses the chance to survive during Covid-19, but a chance to thrive, post Covid-19. According to a recent Prosper Insights & Analytics Survey, 84% of Female participants rated website user experience as a very importantimportant quality for online shopping sites. Maintaining the website’s appeal and user experience has never been easier for web creators. This can have an exponential impact on the web creator’s business as well as allowing their customers to grow in what they imagined as brick and mortar stores that transitioned online, to now, both.
